Resonessence combines resonances of different musical inspirations as its main essence. It was founded in Barcelona in 2008 by French/American pianist, vocalist and composer Frédérique Trunk, who had co-founded a similar group in New York during the time she spent there from 1991 unitl 2006 (Myriade group, CD Soukoun 1999). The general concept is the same, to create a unified sound made of many voices and different cultural influences with an unusual instrumentation. Resonessence includes piano, cello, clarinet and bass clarinet, oud and percussion and offers a program of original compositions traveling through classical and jazz, with Arabic and other world music flavors. Most pieces are played by the whole quintet but some will be featuring different duos and trio combinations inside the quintet to explore the sound from different facets and resonances.
